For the Gatsby Careers Guidelines - A careers assembly lasting around 20-25 minutes (including short clip) with a focus on why Careers Education is so important and how students can make the most of all the opportunities presented to them whilst in school. The assembly examines the cases of two fictional ex-students, Alisha and Jack, who didn’t take Careers Education seriously and ended up paying the price for it by adding years on to their lives in the time it took them to eventually find their ideal jobs. An assembly all about whether or not we live in a truly equal country. The assembly reflects on women’s and LGBT+ rights, racism, black lives matter, and finally focuses on income inequality - and how and why this is rising. The message of the assembly is that although the UK has improved so much in the last fifty years, we cannot take it for granted that we live in a country of equal opportunities, which is why we need to develop our skills of resilience, perseverance and determination to succeed more than ever.
